RPI FIREFIGHTER ESCAPE SYSTEM - 40FTThe RPI50 is a 40’ long Firefighter Escape System designed and manufactured by RPI, Rescue Products International, Inc. The system consists of the following:
• A specially designed hook, the RPI Hook, which can act as a carabiner and a hook, giving the firefighter maximum function and potential for anchoring;
• Forty (40) feet of high strength Kevlar™ and Vectran™ flat tubular webbing acting as rope from Offray Specialty Narrow Fabrics;
• The CMC Escape Artist assembly, which allows the firefighter to escape under his control. The positive lock aspect of the descender allows for the device to lock off under load, and for the firefighter to descend to safety under his control.
• Lastly, the complete system is stored in a fire resistant pouch that attaches to the Gemtor 541 Fire Service Harness, Gemtor 541NYC New Fire Service Harness or RIT Class 2 Harness
The completed systems’ weight is near 3 lbs, and is stored in a low profile configuration which distributes the weight across the firefighter’s body. The RPI Firefighter Personal Escape System is a onetime use system. The firefighter will not deploy his system unless it is to be used in a lifesaving situation. This affords the firefighter the reliability that the system will deploy correctly, when needed.
RPI will replace for free, the firefighters’ system (Hook, Rope and CMC Escape Artist Assembly) if it is deployed in a documented lifesaving situation. The RPI50 is fully compliant to NFPA 1983, 06 Ed. The System is tested by Underwriters Laboratories, and RPI is an ISO 9001:2000 Registered Firm.
