PACKING THE FDNY SEARCH / GUIDE LINE:
  • 1 - Remove all rope from the pack and disconnect the snap hook from the "O" ring in the bottom of the pack.
  • 2 - Coil or lay the entire length of the rope. Should kinks develop, remove them towards the far end of the rope. Reverse twisting helps to remove kinks.
  • 3 - Fold the top of the pack outwards and down several inches to make packing easier.
  • 4 - Coil the rope into the pack in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction. Continue packing until the entire rope is packed. Should kinks or twists develop, reverse the direction of coiling. Change direction as required until the entire rope is packed.
  • 5 - List the folded top of the pack to its proper position to prevent the coils of rope from spilling out.
  • 6 - Lay the top of the pack into position. The snap hook on the free end of the rope can be positioned through the flap openings and then snapped to the "O" ring on the top of the pack.
  • 7 - Do not attempt to support human loads on the search line. The rope is intended only for search/guide purposes.
