When it came time to explore personal escape systems for our department, we looked at quite a few systems. Each different personal escape system we looked at had its strengths and weaknesses in our opinions. As we explored the Sterling F4 Firetech escape system we realized that this was OUR top choice.
I just love that The F4 is auto-locking, so you can clear the window hands-free from the device. Descending is just as easy, you simply squeeze the handle and apply friction on the brake end of the rope. The crosby hook gives you many options for your "anchoring" position. You can either tie it off to a wall joist, radiator or "hook" it to the window sill if needed.
The Sterling F4 system is truly a lightweight personal escape system that I would highly recommend to any department looking to take firefighter safety to the next level!
