It can have up to three lines engraved into it. The top and bottom lines have a maximum of 14 characters per line and the middle line has a maximum of 9 characters. Additional engraving is available on the back side of the tag, if desired. Each tag measures 1 1/2" x 4" x 1/8". Engraved Accountability Tag Only (No Snap Hook & Ring). Accountability Systems for fire departments can be as complicated or as simple as the leaders of the organization choose. Our ideal system has been accepted by a variety of fire departments. Certainly each fire department has "their own way" of doing things and it might be necessary to fine tune this system to meet your needs. We hope this helps getting you pointed in the right direction. It works... TWO TAG SYSTEM GREEN TAG - Given to all certified firefighters who respond. While enroute to an emergency, the firefighters place their tag on a ring inside the apparatus. They are now accounted for as being at and/or involved at the incident. Once on scene, the ring with the GREEN TAGS can be turned over to the Incident Commander or Safety Officer. RED TAG - Given to all certified firefighters who respond. When assigned a task, this tag would be placed on our command board. Written next to it would be the assigned task. Once the task is completed, the firefighter would retrive the tag and keep it with them until redeployed to another task. The system can be taken one step further. For fire departments that have various classifications for their firefighters, they can place a piece of colored tape on the back of the RED TAG. This would seperate the member and easily identify their "status". It would also save money and time by not have a bunch of different colored tags and not have to keep changing tags as firefighter's certifications change.. Example: RED TAG with ORANGE STRIPE - Probationary Member RED TAG with YELLOW STRIPE - Exterior Firefighter only RED TAG with BLUE STRIPE - Not certified as a FAST or RIT Firefighter ASSIGNMENT TAGS: Additional modifications include placing selective tags on the apparatus to identify the job to be done by firefighters once they arrive - Assignment Tags. On the apparatus ring, have tags with the apparatus number and designated fireground "Assignment" (Hose Team, Search Team, Vent Team, etc.). The Apparatus Officer can take these Assignment Tags off the apparatus ring, and place their crews RED TAG to it, if assigned a task while enroute to the emergency. This saves valuable time once on scene. Are the tags heat resistant? ... Tags are not meant to be brought into fires. Firefighters cannot be accounted for by a "Tag System" if they are on the firefighter inside the fire.
