WTC / 9-11 CAMPAIGN RIBBON INSIGNIA BAR

In 2003, the New York City Fire Department initiated the issuance of ribbon medals to honor their members' actions during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The intention of these ribbon medals was to recognize the extraorinary heroism and dedication exhibited by FDNY members on 9-11 and in the days, weeks and months that followed.

SURVIVOR MEDAL: 2-STARS - for those members who were on-scene and survived as the Towers collapsed.

RESCUER MEDAL: 1-STARS - for those members who operated within 24-hours after the Towers collapsed until the last rescue.

CAMPAIGN MEDAL: for those members who participated in the rescue/recovery efforts.

NOTE: The WTC ribbon medals are ONLY available to FDNY members.
