Two outstanding programs presented by three incredible FDNY instructors

Presented by:  Battalion Chief Christopher Eysser & Lieutenant William Hickey
This presentation is an interactive discussion on tower ladder placement. Through discussion we review how to prepare, rehearse, and execute tower ladder placement. Included in the discussion are considering building construction, occupancy, placement obstructions and overall objectives. The course is for all firefighters and ranks.

Chief Christopher G. Eysser has been in fire service since 1991. He is currently a Battalion Chief assigned to Battalion 50 in the FDNY. His previous assignments include Captain of Ladder Co. 120 (Watkins Street), Lieutenant in Ladder Co. 124 (Tonka Truck), and Firefighter in Ladder Co. 111 (The Nuthouse). He serves as an adjunct instructor for the FDNY fire academy. He also serves as an Instructor at the Nassau County Fire Service Academy on Long Island NY. He is a member of the Syosset Fire Department Ladder Co. 2 in Nassau County, NY and is a member of NFPA Committee 1971 & 1851.

Lieutenant William Hickey is a 17 year veteran of the FDNY, spending his entire career on Watkins Street (E231/L120/Bn44). As a firefighter, he was a member of the Division 15 Safety Committee, Rotation FF at Tower Ladder 105 on 9/11, and had served as a chauffeur in Ladder 120 for 13 years. A Board Member for the Lt. Thomas F. Healy Foundation "Helping FDNY Families With Cancer", Will is a member of the CTTF and is currently assigned to FDNY Division 13.

Presented by:  Firefighter Paul Hashagen (retired)
The fireground can be a chaotic place for even the most seasoned firefighter or fire officer. What can happen? Things overlooked. Things misunderstood. Lessons NOT learned. Bad attitudes. Weak training. Letting your guard down. They can all lead to “Firefighter Chaos”! This program will discuss ways to get it right. An outstanding program from all ranks.

Firefighter Paul Hashagen is a 40-year veteran of the fire service. He retired from the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) after 25 years of service, with 20 of those years in Rescue Company 1. Hashagen is a former chief of the Freeport (NY) Fire Department and is still an active member of Truck Company 1. He has written several books and numerous stories on the history of the fire service including Fire Department City of New York: The Bravest; An Illustrated History 1865-2002; and One Hundred Years of Valor: Rescue Company 1 New York City Fire Department Rescue 1915-2015.
