PGI Cobra Elite Pro Para-Tek FR Tri-Blend Firefighting Hood

NEW DESIGN! Hood developed to eliminate the tendency most firefighting hoods have of the bottom of the elasticized face opening pulling down off the SCBA mask gasket, creating a gap, when the head is tilted back to look overhead. Cobra™ Elite Pro eliminates this problem by reducing excess fabric between the base of the neck and the chin, allowing the hood to better interface with turnout coat collars by enabling the hood to slide up at the base of the neck when tilting the head back and hood is worn underneath turnout coat with collar cinched snug, rather than locking it down at the collar as current hoods do. In addition, the bib width was redesigned so that shoulder straps for SCBA frame harness systems won’t lock down the outside of the bib, which could cause the elasticized face opening to pull away from the sides of the SCBA mask, again creating a gap, when turning your head to the left or right.

Cobra™ Elite Pro was evaluated in multiple year-long wear trials and was the only model that didn’t pull off the bottom of the SCBA gasket when hood was worn underneath turnout coats with the collars cinched.

The Sure Difference:
Cobra™ Sure‑Fit™ hoods incorporate a 3" wide center panel rather than the traditional center seam, which allows PGI to contour the hood to the shape of the head for improved fit and comfort. Additionally, Cobra™ Sure‑Fit™ hoods have a little extra fabric (ease) built into the design which improves the hood’s thermal resistance from flame and heat due to the extra space adding a layer of air between hood and head and reduces the likelihood of the face opening pulling away from the SCBA mask when head is rotated.
