Williams 92% High Intensity PK Powder, Foam Compatible, 50 Lb. Pail

Purple-K agent is one of the most effective of the dry chemicals against Class B fires. It is a potassium bicarbonate based dry chemical containing chemical additives, and is produced by an exclusive chemical process. The resultant agent is freeflowing, water repellent, non-abrasive and, when used as a fire suppressing agent, will produce no toxic effects. Purple-K agent is purple in color to differentiate it from the other dry chemical agents.

Post-fire cleanup of Purple-K agent can be readily accomplished using a vacuum cleaner or a broom and dust pan.

Application
Purple-K dry chemical agent may be used to combat fires in flammable liquids, gases, and greases (Class B) including such fires when involved with energized electrical equipment (Class C). Because of its excellent fire fighting effectiveness, Purple-K agent is widely used in the petroleum industry and in other areas where the fire risk is high.

Purple-K agent is available in hand portable and wheeled extinguishers, large stationary units, mobile units, and various fixed nozzle piped systems.

Performance
Purple-K agent is extremely effective against Class B fires, and has been shown to be at least 4 to 5 times as effective in extinguisher applications as carbon dioxide, and more than twice as effective as sodium bicarbonate based suppressants. Various extinguishers will operate at temperatures as low as –65 °F and as high as 120 °F (–54 °C and 49 °C).

Caution
Never mix Purple-K agent with phosphate based dry chemicals. A chemical reaction that is harmful to the extinguisher will take place.

Approvals and Listings
Nationally recognized testing laboratories grant an approval or listing for the combination of an extinguisher and its agent. Numerous types and sizes of approved or listed Purple-K dry chemical extinguishers are available. Following discharge, these extinguishers are to be refilled only with the original agent, as specified on the nameplate. This agent meets specifications of agencies of the U.S. and Canadian governments.

Please review and follow the tank, eductor, and pump manufacturer recommendations for maintaining your system, particularly when changing concentrated foam or additive products. Use the system and the product in compliance with the manufacturer directions.
