Sterling Rope Tech Extension Lanyard
The Tech Extension Lanyard is constructed out of a hollow braid Technora cord for superior heat resistance and offered in a 7" length and 9" length. The Tech Extension is used to help extend the users rappel device away from the harness.
A Lanyard (also referred to as a Tether) is commonly added when a user chooses to relocate their Personal Escape System from a hip-mounted position and move it to their bunker pant pocket. The pockets are generally lower and so the lanyard bridges the gap between the escape system's carabiner and the D-ring on the harness.
NOTE: Generally, turnout gear manufactured internal harnesses are not tight fitting and/or loosened easily. This can cause the harness and A-frame to extend higher than designed when a load is applied. By adding a lanyard (and consequently adding more length), this MAY cause the descender to be out of reach to the user. This does not generally happen on external harnesses such as the Gemtor, RIT Safety or Yates brands.
